Two pieces, made apart, that found each other.
A long line of diamonds that refuses to repeat itself, and a pair of earrings that glow rather than flash.
The necklace is architecture. Baguettes set in illusion clusters, round brilliants in halos, single stones between them, so that the eye travels the length of it without finding a pattern to rest on. It reads as a river of light rather than a row.
The earrings were made separately and are more Indian in their bones. A crescent of channel set baguettes, a lotus of rosecuts at the heart, and a fringe of bezel set rosecut drops that move when she does. The rosecuts are the point: cut flat and faceted on top, they glow rather than flash.
They were never planned as a pair, which is why they work as one. Worn together, each makes the other read more clearly than it does alone.
This pairing has found its home. The rosecut and baguette language it was built in has not, and we return to it for clients who ask.
